Assembly Member for Torve Electoral Area, Hon. Thomas Yao Atidefe and Torve Community have collaborated to donate medical equipment to Torve CHPS ZONE through Akatsi South District Health Directorate.
The items consist of Hospital Bed, Stethoscope, Thermometer, Kidney Dish among others.
According to the Assembly Member, ”he wrote proposals to Individuals and cooperate Organizations including hospitals in support of making CHPS ZONE a standard one for the use of the people of Torve to make health care accessible to serve cost of the people of Torve traveling to assess health care in the District Hospital.”
He further stated that one of the hospitals granted his request by giving him the bed which he later informed the Akatsi South District health director who sent the vehicle to transport items to Torve in the Akatsi South District on 19th February 2018.
Torve is a sub of Akatsi South District which mainly occupation is the distillation of a local gin called (Akpeteshi). The Torve Community are known for there annual celebration festival called Dunenyo which took place on the February 26th of to 31st March, 2018 in aid of purchasing health equipment for the CHPS ZONE in the community.
Hon Thomas Yao Atidefe the Assemblyman for the Torve Electoral Area told the Morning Show host of Sam Kush of Holy 98.5 FM in the Ketu South Municipal that, they were able to generate One Thousand Five Hundred Ghana Cedis ( Gh 1500.00) from the festival in the purchase of the equipment. He further explains to the Host that this CHPS ZONE project was his own self-project which thought wise to build for the people of his electoral area to improve in health delivery and no government has no hand in it.
The items were presented to the Akatsi South District Health Directorate on behalf of Ghana Health Service at a durbar organized for that purpose on Friday 20th April 2018.
In the presence were the PM of the District Hon Bernard Ahiafor, the DCE Hon Leo Nelson Adzidoga, Chiefs, Queen mothers, opinion leaders, youths and other co-operate bodies.
The Member of Parliament for Akatsi South Constituency, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor commended the good deeds of the people of Torve and the Assembly man for that laudable initiative and the other Assembly members to learn from there colleagues.
In his turn, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Akatsi District Assembly, Hon. Leo-Nelson Adzidogah applauded the good gesticulation shown by the Assembly Member and Torve Community. He, therefore, pleaded with the people to continue supporting their leaders to attract more development to the community.
According to the District Health Director, Dr. Kyereme, the Assembly Member and Torve community have shown an exemplary step and urged other communities to emulate. “With this type of gesture our cherished district can develop,” he said.
Hon. Francis Agbawu (Akatsi South Constituency Vice Chairman – NDC) lauded the good relationship between NDC – NPP in the Akatsi South Constituency and urged all political players in the constituency to maintain absolute peace to ensure development.
Then Assembly Member on behalf of the Community thanked the MP, DCE, District Health Director and members of their entourage for honouring their invitation.
