The Paramount Chief for Kpassa in the Nkwanta North District of the Volta Region, Ubor Konja Tassan vi, has charged 5 Ghana cedis per citizen to raise an amount of 4 million Ghana cedis to finance the construction of medical theatre to save lives in the district.
He disclosed this to newsmen in an interview and stated the project estimated to cost about gh¢4million would also cover the construction of medical quarters for a residence doctor posted to the district.
According to him, it is nerve-wracking to know that Nkwanta North attained a district status over decades but does not have a hospital for which thousands of residents travel long distances to Nkwanta South, Bimbila and other districts to seek medical care.
He added that several appeals have been made to successive governments but yielded no result.
Ubor Konja, therefore, reiterated an appeal to the government to support the traditional area construct a befitting district health facility to enhance healthcare delivery to residents in the Nkwanta North District.
The Assemblyman for Kpassa West Electoral Area, Mr Tadin Noah, and some residents pledged their support to the initiative by contributing towards the construction of the hospital facility.
