One of Ghana’s top-most Hotels, Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel has won the 5-star Hotel of the year at the just ended 3rd Ghana Hotels Association Awards which was organized at the Labadi Beach Hotel on Saturday.
The Hotel, beat other competitors in the same category such as the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel and the Labadi Beach Hotel to win this award.
Other big winners on the night included the Coconut Grove Hotel, which won the House Keeping and Conference and Banqueting Team of the year,2&3 star category, Life Time Achievement of the year,Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, Chairman of Group Nduom,Four-star Hotel of the year, Atlantic Hotel, Western Region,Three Star Hotel of the year,Golden Bean Hotel,Kumasi City, Regional Branch of the year,Volta Region, Outstanding Contribution of the year,Bob Coffie Dasu,owner of Freedom Hotel,Ho ,and the most secured Hotel of the year,Movenpick Hotel,Accra.
The National President of the Ghana Hotels Association, Mr. Herbert Acquaye in his welcome address said the awards night has been instituted to reward hardworking Hotels and Personalities who have committed themselves to excellence in the Hotel industry and to engender healthy rivalry among industry players.
This year’s awards was on the theme: Harnessing the Economic Potential of the Hotel Industry through Technology, innovation and cost reduction.
The President went on urge government to create a conducive environment for the industry which will contribute to its development and the country invariably by abolishing nuisance taxes which serve as a hindrance to the growth of the Hotel industry.
