Le Monde Des Gaulois; a French Promotion NGO, has organized a French competition to some schools in the Ketu South Municipality in other to promote the language.
The Ketu South Municipal Inter School French Quiz Competition which was in three phases was launched the on the 14th May 2018 at the Municipal Assembly Hall at Tokor.
At the first ( 1st) phase of the competition over 40 schools across the municipality took part. Those schools were grouped into six(6) centers. At the end of these competitions, the best three (3) schools were propelled to the second phase which was the zonal competition. There were three(3) zones.
At the end of the zonal competition, the best two (2) schools that emerged victoriously were propelled to the grand final at phase three which includes Aflao Border school, Akporkploe Basic School, Aflao Preventive School, Kekeli School Complex, Agbozume EP Kpota School, St Paul’s Anglican School at the grand finale.
The final competion took place on the 22nd June, 2018 at T-Square Arena, a recreational centre at the heart of Aflao township.
At the end of a very competitive quiz, Kekeli school complex over the years has chalked number of successes took the first position with 126 points and Aflao Preventive came second with 125 points.
Aflao Border School completes the podium with 119 points with the 3rd position. Akporkploe Basic School, Agbozume EP Kpota School and St Paul’s Anglican school took respectively the 4th, 5th and 6th position. The schools were given awards by the Municipal Coordinating Director for Ketu South Municipal, Mr. David Kanyi, Ms. Rejoice Kporku, the AD-supervision of GES Ketu south, Mr. Felix Servon the training officer, GES, Ketu south, Mr. David Folli BARSON.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Ketu South Municipal Hon Elliot Edem Agbenorwu presented certificates of participation to the schools and donated 100 copies of French grammar book to the NGO to share to the schools and has encouraged the students to take their books seriously and excel in their exams in other to make use of the NPP government flashpoint programme the Free Senior High School.
The NGO took the best 30 pupils selected and their teachers from the competition to Alliance Française, CREF-National for some exposure with the aim to arose the interest of the pupils in the French language.
The vision of the Le Mondes Des Gaulois is to makes Ghana a bilingual country in the ECOWAS block and Africa in general.
The NGO started working in the year 2016 and was founded by one Mr. Michael Kondo Kwasi teacher and a native of Ketu South. The NGO has thought it wise to help students to see the French language as one the subject that will help them to flow with other neighboring countries that surrounded Ghana.
