Concerned Citizens of the Volta Region, is scheduled to demonstrate through the principal streets of Ho, the Volta Regional Capital to register their displeasure against Government’s intent to create a new region out of the Voltage Region tomorrow.
Speaking to Volta News Online, the Public Relations Officer of the group, Mr. Yevugah Daniel has referred to the move of carving a new region; Oti Region from the Volta Region as unfair, needless and ill-motivated.
According to the group, the creation of a new region cannot be the solution to the underdevelopment problems of the Volta Region but rather the deliberate neglect governments.
He also said monies that are been spent on the whole process leading up to the creation of the region could be used to develop the region.
The group in a Press Release the group has resiliently bounced back with so much energy filled beyond capacity to continuously speak against the ill-treatment being meted out to them by the government.
The group has called on other citizens to join “the passionate rank and file of the Concerned Citizens of Volta Region (CCVR) in their comeback peaceful demonstration scheduled for December 15, 2017 against the creation of a new region in the Volta region.”
“All should endeavor to give this demonstration the needed support and attention if not for any of the reasons stated above, but for the sake of the Guan child who doesn’t want to be separated from his family in Worawora, the Lolobi girl Child who is scared of crossing a border before going to her neighbors, the Anlo man who doesn’t want to be divided on a tribal line, the Buem little boy who doesn’t want to see his Krachi neighbors as enemy, the Worawora woman who wants to maintain her relationship with her Anlo neighbors. Let us remember this and stop politicians from turning us against one another.”
Mr. Yevugah said they are prepared for the demonstration tomorrow and has assured citizens of their safety as they are working closely with the police.
